18世纪后期至19世纪中期，德国的钢琴制造业发展迅速，一些历史悠久的钢琴品牌也在积极地 进行技术革新，他们制作的钢琴占领了欧洲大大小小的音乐厅。直到1914年，美国的一些钢琴品牌进入欧洲市场之后，才结束了德国钢琴的垄断地位。第一次世 界大战爆发之前，德国制造的钢琴以优良的质量闻名于世，英国人则擅长制作用于美妙音色的钢琴，法国的钢琴制造商则主要生产用于演出的钢琴。在那个时代，英 国、德国和法国的乐器制造商们不遗余力地改进制作技术，为钢琴注入了更丰富的音色。
 
Von dem Ende des 18. Jh bis der Mitte des 19. Jh entwickelte sich die deutsche klavier-fertigung sehr schnell. Ein paar historische Klavier-Marken innovierte aktiv die Technik. Nach 1914 kamen   einige US-Marken in Europa auf und das deutsche Monopol endete. Aber vor dem 1. Weltkrieg sind die deutschen Klaviere für ihre hervorragenden Qualität bekannt gewesen. Die Briten kannten sich gut in Fertigung der Klaviere mit der ausgezeichneten Timbre aus. Die Franzosen stellten meistens die Klaviere nur für die Aufführungen her. Damals verbesserten die Klavierbauer die Technik mit aller Kraft, um die reichere Timbre haben zu können.
 
During the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, the German piano industry developed rapidly. Some of the historic piano brands were also actively carrying out technological innovation. The piano they made occupied the concert halls over Europe. Until 1914, some of the U.S. brands entered the European market, the monopoly of German Piano brands ended. Before the World War I broke out, the pianos which made in German were world-famous for their high quality. The British were good at producing the pianos for the use of the wonderful sound. The French piano manufacturers mainly produced the pianos for the use of performance. At that time, the Britain, Germany and France instrument manufacturers tried their best to improve the technology of production; the pianos were given a much richer sound.
